How Our Fitting Process Ensures a Perfect Custom Fit—Every Time

Most online custom clothing brands expect you to do all the work—measure yourself, pick a size, and hope for the best. At Articles of Style, we do things differently. We bring the precision of a bespoke tailor shop to the online space, offering a level of service you won’t find anywhere else.

The key to getting it right? The try-on garment. This extra step allows us to fine-tune every detail—shoulder slope, sleeve rotation, pant break—so that when you receive your final garment, it fits like it was made just for you. Because it was.

The process starts with you selecting the garments you want—whether it’s a suit, an overcoat, or a casual jacket. You pick the fabric, style, and details, and our team gets to work.

Once your order is placed, we’ll ask for your body measurements (don’t worry, we guide you through it). From these numbers, our tailors create a test garment—a rough draft of your final piece, made from scrap fabric, designed solely for fit assessment.

When your test garment arrives, you’ll try it on and take four simple photos:

✔ Left profile
✔ Back view
✔ Right profile

Along with these photos, you’ll answer a few questions: How do the shoulders feel? Is the sleeve length right? Do you prefer a slimmer or fuller leg? This step is what separates custom from truly bespoke.

Because here’s the thing—measurements only tell part of the story. Fit is personal. Some guys love high-waisted trousers with a fuller leg; others want everything cut slim and sharp. Our process ensures you get exactly what you want.

Once we review your try-on photos and feedback, our team of real tailors makes adjustments to your pattern. We refine the fit down to an eighth of an inch, correcting posture imbalances, adjusting for personal preference, and ensuring comfort without sacrificing style.

After perfecting your pattern, we craft your final garment. When you receive it, it should fit perfectly straight out of the box. But because we’re obsessed with details, we do one last fitting review.
