    1. Alex

Every once in a while Alex breaks out some straight Reservoir Dogs sh-t, and really nails it. I’m loving the slick back hair (finally long enough to sustain) with the sharp black suit + black shades + black boots.

The textured/patterned tie, mini tie clip, and club collar give his look a slightly more preppy daytime look, rather than going full-on formalwear.

Alex and I were meeting with some people we needed to swindle, so I broke out the black suiting as well.

As per my recent theme of lightweight tailoring, though, I went with the “sleeveless suit“. The double-breasted hopsack shawl-collared waistcoat is part of a formal three-piece that I often wear in place of a tuxedo (the jacket is DB as well).

The band collar shirt and the high sleeve roll gives the look a slightly more casual man-about-town feel, while the pocket watch is a throwback gentleman move to add a touch of gold. It belonged to my late grandfather and sometimes I wear it simply because it reminds me of old times, and my family back on the farm.

Towni heard what I said about floral shirts and trends I hope die – but he stays by the florals.

What do you think? Is he pulling off the flowers with this “casually tailored” look?

Towni, I love you, but we gotta get you some new loafs…

    Thanks, as always, for reading.

I have a question for Alex, I have hair just like yours, but when i put gel in, it dries frizzy and crunchy and when i put wax in, the same thing- how did you get your hair to look like that?

    • Jeanscuffed

I’m going to have to give my vote to Towni. Florals will never die in my eyes and of course with Spring its definitely appropriate. He pulls it off effortlessly. Dan you were really close.

    • JoeTav

i like Town’s look, I really like the material of his trousers, I like the way it falls and the richness of the fabric makes the whole look.

    • http://community.mis.temple.edu/dannnnyboyyy/ Daniel C.

Dan wins. Extra points for short sleeves!

    • Michael Gray

Voting for Dan. His look has command, elegance, approachability–everything that is masculine. Good job my man.

    • Dr. Shrock

      Dan won.

    • Jakob

Towni! Love the floral shirt haha

    • BlessedStylish

Townsend with that artistic touch of pattern + color FTW!

    • Pony Marshmallow

Alex! That man means business today!!!!

    • khordkutta

‘lex on his American Psycho ish…IMO

        Killing ’em…literally

    • Al Bizzy

I vote for Alex because of the slicked hair! Git it!

    • Miguel

Alex nearly gave a heart attack in a good way, his hair is straight, wow…Towni’s floral shirt is nice but I got it go with Dan, looking fresh by wearing formal clothing.

    • JBells

Dan. Cold blooded!! Making those formal pieces look casual so effortlessly

      • http://www.TSBmen.com/ Dan Trepanier

Casual Formalwear is my new sh-t. Post on that coming soon…

        Cheers JBells.

    • Mitko

I think everyone looks great this week but Alex just kills it with that hair. Many people on here seem to dislike it by I think it you gives you a “I don’t give a fuck, I kill people in my spare time” vibe…since its kind of a mobster-ish look and all. Personally I’m not a big fan of the floral shirt, but that’s just me, and who knows my outlook can change. However, I think that Towni’s shirt actually works pretty well since the pattern is on the smaller side and it’s not so in your face. Nice looks all around!

    • taiwo

Dan takes the cake. And yes, Towni need a new loaf…lol

    • Todd Ruhnau

Dan’s look is so sleek. I could be swindled by that guy. I’m still all about the floral shirts though, so rock on Towni. But the loafers definitely took away from the overall look…. so close.

      • http://www.TSBmen.com/ Dan Trepanier

        Swindle is my middle name.
        Well, actually, it’s Norman.
        But I stay swindling regardless.

“Alex and I were meeting with some people we needed to swindle, so I broke out the black suiting as well. ”

Sounded so badass I just had to retype it myself.

I’m going with Alex because that L.A.-serial-killer-Vincent-Vega-Mulholland-Drive look is the bees knees.

      • http://www.TSBmen.com/ Dan Trepanier

Looking the part is half the battle. If you can walk and talk the part, that’s 3/4 of the battle.

This is a point I’m going to be driving home over the next few months.

“Style” is an opportunity to tell others what you want, and that you’re not taking no for an answer. It doesn’t just open the door, it also makes everyone in the room pay attention.

        Cheers MS.

        • MS

All agreed. Hope they don’t read your blog doe.

    • JoeFromTexas

Going with Towni for the pretty flowers. I clicked on Alex’s face to get into the WIWT completely thinking he was a guest. Took a while to recognize the slicked up Alex.

      • http://www.TSBmen.com/ Dan Trepanier

He’s a long way from Texas now, isn’t he Joe?

    • Brooks

Not a huge fan of the slick-back on Alex. That said, experimenting is never bad. I really dig the daytime black suit.

Dan’s DB waistcoat + band collar popover combo is awesome. I wish there was a picture of you two together lookin’ all murdered out.

Towni’s floral works, but only because it’s the focal point of the outfit. If it was busier, that could be catastrophic.

    • Shane

Nod goes to Dan this time around.

    • TO

DAN! 100% today. Killer waistcoat, Superb look. Really feeling it, feels very “old” but yet very modern at the same time.

      • http://www.TSBmen.com/ Dan Trepanier

    • ACE F.

      Very mafioso Alex!

      • http://www.TSBmen.com/ Dan Trepanier

Had to deliver an offer that couldn’t be refused.

    • John B

I’ll go with Dan. I have to admit don’t really like Alex’s hair today. Towni definitely pulls off the floral shirt!

    • Shawn

Not feeling Alex’s side part with the hair so long in the back, I prefer a high fade side part (à la barber). Plus, your curly hair look better natural! Not feeling the boots either with the suit! Rest looks pretty good to me!

Dan, love the gold watch, wish I could find one also!

What’s wrong with Towni’s loafers? A quick scrub with Saphir Renovateur and Medaille d’Or cream and they’d look pristine! Some serious patina on them loafers!

      • http://www.TSBmen.com/ Dan Trepanier

My biggest problem with the loafs, other than the weird redish-not-quite-oxblood color, is that they don’t fit properly in the width.

Towni has narrow feet, and those loafers are too wide…making them look floppy and sloppy. In my opinion.

        • Shawn

Good point, would never have guessed from the pictures (well maybe except around his left heel, it is kind of ‘loose’). As for the color, I think a couple of layers of a darker-burgundy paste might alleviate that. But hey, YMMV, you’re the pro, Dan!

          • http://www.TSBmen.com/ Dan Trepanier

You’re def right about the color – that can be fixed, or changed all together. But when the fit is off (especially if they run big) there’s not much you can do.

Fit is as important in shoes (length, width, vamp) as it is in tailored wear.

            Cheers Shawn!

    • Pete

      Boots look horrible Alex sorry

    • Felix

A white shirt would have made you get my vote Alex. A club collar white – quirky, but keeps the minimalism going. Suit seems like it could be a tad slimmer through the waist too.

      • http://www.TSBmen.com/ Dan Trepanier

We could all be a tad slimmer through the waist.

If we were “fashion guys” we’d be trim and nimble, eating salads trying to fit into Dior…

But we’re “style guys”, and we prefer whiskey, beer, and other vices that aid creatives.

        • Jorge B.

That’s what I appreciate most about ya’ll. You come as you are and don’t try to present this “perfect” image of a man in a suit. Style guys almost always look manlier than fashion guys, and at the end of the day, I’d rather look manlier.

          • http://www.TSBmen.com/ Dan Trepanier

        • Jesse Stensby

Any suggestion how to shop for a waistcoat cut like that without having it be part of an existing suit? All I can find so far are asian knock-offs that don’t even come in my size.

          • http://www.TSBmen.com/ Dan Trepanier

Unfortunately the RTW waistcoat market is ABSOLUTELY SH-T.

You probably won’t find it, until I start designing Ready-to-Wear in the new TSB SHOP….

    • Mark Smith

band collar & a db waistcoat is a killer combination.

Not really feeling the slick back hair Alex, I think a lot of your style and charm came from the untamed hair. kudos for trying something different though, man!

      • http://www.TSBmen.com/ Dan Trepanier

There’s a time for slick (black suit, persuasive meetings) and a time for curls (hitting the beach and generally riding life’s waves).

    • cam

Amen on the loafs….gotta go with Dan
