I’m definitely way late with my comment here. But I still feel the need to make a statement. John, this is the first time I’ve ever voted for you. You nailed it in this competition. Everything is working for you in this outfit – the fit, the color combo, the presentation. Great job!

Dan…your outfit looks smashing from the waist up. The shorts ruin everything. PLEASE don’t ever try anything like this again!

  • Ray

I think Dan’s shorts are a bit roomy (and maybe an inch long). Just my opinion! But I have nothing against the DB/shorts combination.

  • Dylan

I’m a bit late today, but I had to give it to Towni for those truly ill slippers. Where can I cop a pair or something similar?!

  • http://www.thetreasuregentleman.wordpress.com TTG

Was about to vote for John, but Wes kills it here.

  • Esmetjie

For me Wes wins this, but me personaly would have change the jeans to a chino ….. everything Else is just Fine !

    • http://www.tsbmen.com Westley Dimagiba

they actually are chinos, it’s too hot for that denim on denim!

      • Esmetjie

Oh i guess the Metal Buttons confused me, i realy digg youre sence for colour combinations!
Anyway i guess its Time to stop beeing a Smart aleck and stepp my Game up by participating in the giveaway Contest.

  • Kyle Leon Norville

I’m surprised no one has asked about the tie on John… ( or at least from what I read)

Anyway, my vote goes to John. A day late, but blah!

    • John Crossley

The patchwork madras tie is from Dolbeau. A Canadian company that makes beautiful handcrafted ties.

  • http://undefined Lindsay C.

John’s the winner here, even with the slightly wrinkled pants.

I like John’s outfit because it seems the most accessible. Folks are hating on DT’s double-breasted with shorts, because that’s an expert move. DT’s admittedly a style icon, and can do things like this. John’s outfit is perfect as something to show the general public “See, that is how your stuff should fit, a good idea of color and style, and what you should do.”

I think John may not win the #WIWTs because the average reader here considers themselves quite sylish and sees John’s usual outfits as “simple” and “basic”. As someone who has quite a few unstylish friends, I love being able to show John’s outfits as an example of things they can do to improve their own style.

Thank you, John, for doing what you do, and keep it up. Despite the few comments from the haters, what you’re doing works. They’ll come around.

    • John Crossley

      Thank you Lindsay!

Had to go with Towni today. Looking great. As far as Dan’s look goes, I think that a blazer can look cool with shorts, but I am just not a fan of double breasted jackets. I read something that talked about wearing clothes that flatter your size and that DBs compliment broader men well. That just freed me from any guilt I had about not liking them.

    • Joseph 2

I’d disagree feverently other me, a double breasted jacket -can- look good on a bigger guy, if the fit is good and the details are tasteful, but a double breasted suit makes you look wider, not exactly the sort of thing you want to enhance if you’re already a bit big.

      • http://ramblingsofawould-berenaissanceman.blogspot Joseph

Too be honest other me I didn’t give that aspect much thought since I’m not a bigger guy. I did just do a quick Google search trying to find what I originally read and Details (the original publisher) now has stuff out like, “How to Pull off a Double Breasted Coat” so go figure.

I think my thing is that to me it usually either looks draped on or wrapped around, and I just don’t feel like either of those looks are appealing.

  • Steve

John absolutely…..great tie and shirt combo.

  • jose

my dude wes is always killing it!!

  • Luigi Cuneo

    Well John for me here…
I loved the Denim Suit worn by Adam.
Well Dan, what about a post on it by you?

  • Chris T

Hey, love the site. Read most days but have never commented.

Voted Dan, awesome. Love those shoes. Don’t see why John gets grief, fist thing i saw was John and i was like, pow, looking good today. I couldn’t wear Alex’s style but it works perfect for him and I think the fact that Wes would look slick whatever he wears, just something about the guy.

I know DT is a superstar blogger, but am I right in thinking that John is the IT guy and Alex is the camera man… No other background in style or fashion? If so fair play boys as you get judged on here against very high standards!

  • Jack

Talk about saving the best for last. Wes wins in a landslide.

Dan looks like he’s off on an ocean cruise.

    • http://tsbmen.com Dan Trepanier

I’m always off on an ocean cruise brother.

  • De.Cay

john finally looks like he gets it.
    first time he looks presentable

    • http://tsbmen.com Dan Trepanier

First time he looks presentable? That’s just rubbish.

      • Nick

    • http://undefined Z

  • http://themodernprep.wordpress.com Marshall Mulherin

Had to go with Wes. Everything fits so perfectly.
Dan was a close second, and would’ve won if those shorts were a bit more slim.

  • Misha G.

    Dat blazer…

  • Matt

Wes those shoes are killer, Put that outfit over the top! Are the grey or a dusty blue? And where are they from?

    • http://www.tsbmen.com Westley Dimagiba

they’re grey and are from Surface to Air

      • Matt

Wes have to say you style is the most creative and trend setting that I’ve seen. Wish you could redo my wardrobe! I think you’ve taken Dan’s spot as best dressed in America!

        • http://www.tsbmen.com Westley Dimagiba

wow! best compliment I’ve ever received, but I think Dan still got me in that area hah

  • john

Wes, mind sharing what size your persols are? Im guessing 52?

  • Tony

Alex doesn’t get enough love on this

  • Joe

Just to show its nothing personal, the DB and shorts still looks horrible. Alex and Wes tie for this one, too close to make a call. I like the suede cap toes, I’ve been lurking on Ebay trying to spot a good pair.

    • http://tsbmen.com Dan Trepanier

To each his own, I felt great in it.

Blue/grey suede captoes are by Surface to Air.

  • Ian K

Gotta go with Wes today although Alex is a close second rocking the music festival look!

  • MS

DT, I love you, man. But the DB/shorts thing is impossible. It’s still too “I just quit my job and left my wife and decided to sail around the world in my yacht to recapture my youth but to no avail.”

    • http://tsbmen.com Dan Trepanier

      haha. I feel you.

  • Ken

I don’t know why, but John always gives me the feeling of trying too hard

    • http://tsbmen.com Dan Trepanier

He keeps it rather simple, usually.

  • Johann

    John because I like colors.

  • Alan

I like the DB and shorts personally, though I don’t think Chip quite got it right. The way I see it, the DB covers more so it is a great way to smarten up more casual gear (be it a rugger top or a t-shirt) – but the outfit should work without the DB (and brass buttons are an advanced move, best avoided by most). +1 for Dan here.

IMO, John hasn’t *quite* managed to own his looks yet – it just often feels like the clothes wear him more than the other way around. But that will change I’m sure. In this case, a pair of socks may have helped to to play off some of the items above the waist – though I think the tie and the jacket are a little too strong for eachother.

  • RIchard

Wes killed it. I’m totally stealing his outfit for future reference.

    *right click, save*

Anyone know what shoes he has on?

    • http://tsbmen.com Dan Trepanier

Surface to Air blue/grey suede captoes with gum bottoms…hand me downs :)

  • http://www.gent.ro Viorel

Dan is the last one?! Thank Chip for the great idea. “It’s all about balance and proportion”… and not wearing shorts with DB!

    • http://tsbmen.com Dan Trepanier

Guess so, but I’ma do me.

  • Chris

    All about Wes today

  • Brody

My boy Wes killed this look! John was dope as usual but Wes had to get the vote. Feel free to let me have that bag Wes!

  • http://dapperadvisor.tumblr.com Akil M

My vote is for Dan. I am a fan of blazers and shorts even though so many people oppose it.

    • http://tsbmen.com Dan Trepanier

      Thx for the love.

  • Henri

Wes, John not far behind. Dan’s shorts are too wide and long for my liking.

  • Fox

I think Alex’s style in general is underrated…don’t understand why John even has a spot on this site. But that is just my opinion

    • John Crossley

OUCH! Haha I’m in 2nd place right now though. I think someone is jealous.

      • Fox

John, I didn’t mean to slag you off…cheers mate! I just want to see Alex win 1st

    • John

John is either first or second for me almost every time he’s featured! Alex’s style is indeed underrated, but John nails it!

    • Dave

Nonsense. John is very stylish whenever he is on. Fits in to the team perfectly.

    • AK

Gotta agree. John is always looking sharp.

    • Rich

Fox I don’t know what you’re on!! John’s style is awesome and in my opinion he is the most consistent dresser of the lot.

John – keep doing what you do.

      • John Crossley

        Thanks Rich.

        • http://profblack.blogspot.kr/ Professor Black

Be wary of someone everyone hates, be equally wary of someone everyone loves. I feel you John. I often think… John adds a lot of depth the the team and I find myself identifying with your style choices often. In fact, you’ve snagged at least 30% of my votes since being on WIWT.

    • John Crossley

What’s with all the negative comments being published?

  • Arthur

Dan — where are ur shades from?

  • Pete

Wes for the great colour palette, John for dressing the same way I do

  • Kiel

    Alex wins.

You look good in blue, dude.

  • John

Im really feeling Wes’ getup today. Hey Wes! where did you get that shirt from? If you don’t mind telling.

    • http://www.tsbmen.com Westley Dimagiba

got it last year from Uniqlo

  • Eric

Denim shirt and denim pants. Do you work in a horse barn?

    • http://tsbmen.com Dan Trepanier

Hah – what you know about working in a horse barn?

      • http://profblack.blogspot.kr/ Professor Black

I love how you guys take all the criticism so lightheartedly. Obviously, you guys enjoy mixing it up both figuratively and stylistically.

  • http://WideEyesTightWallets.tumblr.com WideEyesTightWallets

I’m going with Towni this time. He hit the nail on the head with the subtle patterns (I almost didn’t even notice the slippers/shoes), they really tie it all together and take a more standard outfit up to a new level.

LOVE John’s look from the waist up, but Vaz got it right, those pants need ironing! Might be nitpicking, but it’s a pet peeve of mine. Wrinkly pants are ok with some looks, but the rest of his outfit is too polished for those pants.

Also really digging Wes’s outfit. I’ve been having a lot of fun with monochromatic looks myself, and I think he nails it. The touches of brown in his accessories break it up, and the blue pieces he picked are fantastic (especially the suede shoes).

    • John Crossley

In my defense, the pants are not that wrinkled. There is definitely a line where the hanger was though. I think I need to get some better hangers.

      • http://tsbmen.com Dan Trepanier

The old pant bar crease – gets ’em every time. Always better to lay the trousers over the bar, rather than squished under.

  • Bob

Wes, you are such a player. Love it.

  • Anonymous

Wes, you are such a player. Love it.

    • http://www.tsbmen.com Westley Dimagiba

      thank you!!

  • http://undefined Ray

Wes just looks so cool without even trying!

  • massimo

Towni looks best, and most natural, I cannot get on board with shorts and jacket look, and the shorts look wide.

  • Jakob

John knocked it out of the park. I want that blazer so bad. Dibs!

    • John Crossley

Thanks man, it’s an awesome blazer. It’ll be in the TSB shop soon.

  • Vaz

Wes FTW! Towni almost got my nod, but the casualness of Wes’s blues and browns combo is just hip and refreshing!

John’s bottoms can pair up with Alex’s top for some good ironing.

    • John Crossley

Haha, yes the pants could use an iron or a steam. I was half asleep getting dressed this morning. But wrinkles add character right?

  • Drew

    DB with shorts?!? No thanks

  • John

Dan. I liked Chip’s look, so it’s fair!

You went with wider shorts to balance the DB?
