Between Seasons: The Lightweight Jacket
April 9th, 2013
Nothing will give your wardrobe a boost quite like a lightweight jacket for those transitional times between seasons. Here’s some ideas.
A simple leather varsity-style jacket is perfect for a casual night out. It’s casual and sporty without looking like athletic attire.
You can’t go wrong with a lightweight baseball jacket.
Also, wap your boring traditional button-down shirt for a band collar shirt. It’s much less “office” looking and has plenty more swagger. I actually cut the beat-up collar off of this old Brooks Brothers shirt (that I had tailored a couple years ago) and replaced it with a simple white band collar. If you know your way around a sewing machine (or have a relationship with a decent tailor) t’s a simple alteration that can bring new life to the old shirts collecting dust at the back of your closet.
The perfect complement to finish-off a simple shirt & tie “business casual” look.
This marled sweater, which has a tweed-like texture, works great with classic menswear fabrics like denim and chino.

Nothing says “Fall Weekend Getaway” like a leather bomber, carry-on duffle bag, and ruggedly-refined moc toe boots.
As I’ve mentioned recently, my trouser silhouette has been getting a little wider, and pleatier, lately. Not everything has to be super slim to look sharp. There’s an old-school charm in fuller pants, like these off-white pleated chinos.
Thanks, as always, for reading.
Yours in style,
