As part of working with Hudson’s Bay and their new Ralph Lauren Denim & Supply collection, I also picked up this t-shirt (as modeled by our friend Nick Fouquet, funny enough).

I’m not usually one for graphic tees, but I’m spending a lot of time in California these days, and the rustic black American flag stood out to me. It’s very ‘Downtown LA’, especially with a black leather jacket, waxed jeans, and ankle boots.

Here’s a little tip: I never wear t-shirts with a crisp neckline. I always stretch them out aggresively by yanking on the neck and sleeves over and over again when I first put it on. If it rips a little, fine. I’d rather it be all droopy and unkept rather than clean and net around the neck like a Hanes undershirt.

“I’M IN HAWAII Y’ALL. Sorry I’m so casual, but this is seriously the only thing I’m wearing other than swim trunks the whole time I’m here. Deal with it.

I had to buy this huge straw hat after the first day when my face got so sunburnt that it hurt to blink.”

“I have family in Hawaii (Honolulu, Oahu to be exact) so I’ve been going there my whole life. One of my personal traditions is to buy a new pair of cheap rubber sandals at the ABC store as soon as I get off the plane. They’re always destroyed by the end of trip because they’re all I wear the whole time I’m here. That rubber is so comfy tho.”

“I LOVE wearing polo shirts with my suits during the warmer months.

Anyone can wear a suit with a shirt and tie. It takes a little more guts and swagger, in my opinion, to wear one in a more casual setting… It comes down to that whole “dressy casual” vibe, which is where I try to live.”

“When you’re wearing a polo with a suit, tuck it in! The entire silhouette of the suit depends on the balance of the proportions between the jacket and pants.

In tattoo news, I just got some new ink and I’m aiming for a full sleeve by the end of the year. From what I hear Dan is on board for more ink too…right? Time to fereshen up that old chest piece.”

“You know I love tassel loafers, so you can imaging how I jumped for joy…or maybe gave a strong fist pump…when I found this un-scuffed suede pair at one of my go-to vintage shops.”

    Thanks, as always, for reading.

Alex! He is confident in his humble style. He doesn’t try to be anyone else. Plus photographers always have the best music playing in the lab. I have a soft spot for photographers…and this is a woman talking.

Hey Wes – let us in on your secret! Where are the go-to vintage shops you speak of?

    • Josh Moulder

I’ve got to give it to Wes, timeless look, it’s great!

    • Jack

Alex is looking like a before model in that shot.

    • ACE F.

Hey Wes, is that a Jose Rizal tattoo?

      • http://www.tsbmen.com/ Westley Dimagiba

        YO! Good eye bro.

    • Brian Stone

When you say you also stretch the sleeves, do you mean tugging/stretching/loosening the armpit area, our stretching the sleeve itself?

    • TO

Wes. Really nice polo and loafers. Latter was a fantastic find. What does a piece like that run you at your hidden gem of a vintage store?

      • http://www.tsbmen.com/ Westley Dimagiba

the black ones were $40 from the band collar post and these suede ones were $50.

        I literally go EVERYDAY lol

        • Jimmy_Johansen

Does the shop you go to have size 14-15 shoes? It’s so hard to find interesting styles or decent prices with my foot size…

          (a single tear falls)

    • Cass

This my opinion about all three looks.

Dan: It looks like you are trying too hard to be cool…it looks forced. If you were an edgier looking guy with a slimmer silhouette, I possibly could believe this look.

Alex: Nothing inspiring about this look. The only thing missing is the pair of white tube socks you should be wearing.

Wes: Really, like the look. Very classic ’60’s look. I think rolling up the jacket sleeves is a bit much. Perhaps wearing a watch or some other wrist accessory could really finish off the look. Nice shoes!

      • Addi Innocent

Agreed about Dan. He almost always looks like he’s trying on someone else’s clothes. To be fair, there’s not much he can do about phenotypic traits, but he could transform the silhouette a bit. Broader shoulders or slimmer waist & legs would go a long way.

Alex is kind of an “Adam Sandler in 50 First Dates” lookin’ boy, but this bohemian vibe takes him pretty naturally IMO. Doesn’t look like he’s trying too hard.

Wes lookin like a cartel member here, not in a good way. The outfit kinda works when the jacket’s on, but the polo + tattoo + poofy muscles have a weird synergy IMO.

        • Daniel

Very confused about your comment about Dan almost always looking like he’s trying on someone else’s clothes. Either you’re new to the blog, in which case you (1) don’t know that it’s Dan’s blog, and (2) are unqualified to make that comment, or you’re a regular here, in which case I don’t understand why you keep returning to see Dan look like he’s trying on someone else’s clothes (unless you like this or find his combinations inspirational, in which case, why so negative?). Also your comment is ironic, given that Dan designs and makes some of the clothes he wears, thus making him more able to wear his own clothes than most people are.

As solid as many of the looks on this blog generally are, I’d get bored if the guys didn’t keep things fresh. Sometimes this means that they’re “trying on a look.” That’s fine with me.

    • StyleSubjectivism

you guys are truly an inspiration.

I’ve never come across a more well curated site in the fashion scene than I have with this one.

        Thanks for the love!

Cam not voting for the suited look?? Whoa :)

        • cam

Yeah I know right? Jodhpurs and RLPL and Wes didn’t stand much of a chance ;)

    • Sid

100 percent wes, looks like an absolute boss, although i have to say im liking dans rock and roll vibe

    • Miguel

Wes, that look is on point. I had something similar on last weekend but with white pants and black loafers.

      • http://www.tsbmen.com/ Westley Dimagiba

        great minds.

    • John B

Dan. I don’t really like the polo Wes is wearing with a suit, but I’m definitely jealoys of his “vintage” loafers!

    • AJ

Really strong looks today. I’m going to give it to Dan because of the awesome tee and all black everything confidence. Wes a strong (no pun intended) second.

    • Herbert Morrison

Wes: somebody get this guy a band-aid, he’s cut. What do you bench these days bro?

      • http://www.tsbmen.com/ Westley Dimagiba

about to hit that 200 club soon, a lot of work to do

    • Shawn

Voted for Alex ‘cuz I’m so jealous he’s in Hawaii! How come no one in my family lives there? BTW nice polo Wes! What’s Dan chest tattoo, I’ve always wondered?

    • Alex Mărginean

Voted for Wes, but Dan was pretty close!
