Finally back in LA after an extended Holiday break in Canada. It’s good to be back to the “LA Winter” and time to get to work – lots to do in 2014!
Today I’m meeting with my agents to outline our goals for the year, both with Articles of Style as well as my personal career. Wearing one of my favorite bespoke suits with a vintage toggle coat.
I like the contrast of a slightly casual overcoat with a sharply tailored DB suit. Also, brown is such an underrated color. After your blues and grays, it should be your next suit.
- Navy cotton toggle coat by Polo Ralph Lauren (Vintage)
- Brown hopsack double breasted suit by Michael Andrews Bespoke
- Light blue Shirt by Angel Bespoke
- Navy rep stripe tie Vintage
- Watch by Montblanc Timewalker Automatic
- Oxblood loafers by Scarpe di Bianco
Wes is keeping it warm and colorful in NYC with a couple layered knits: mustard turtleneck under deep red pullover.
Of course, you know he always has a couple vintage finds in the mix. In this case, the navy officer’s jacket with gold buttons, the pullover sweater, and the leather driving gloves.
There’s some of those dress boots we’ve been telling you about.
- Vintage Military Peacoat
- Red Vintage pullover sweater with cable knits
- Mustard turtleneck by Uniqlo
- Vintage leather driving gloves
- Blue Jeans by Levis
- Brown “Tyndall” Italian calfskin boots by Johnston & Murphy
Alex busted out a layered look inspired by “old Japanese men, mainly”.
“While I was home in Texas I rediscovered some of my workwear pieces that had been sitting in the closet since the LA move. I’m taking advantage of the slightly-less-than-seventy-degree weather to get some layering in.”
“Although the primary function of the bandana neckerchief is to collect sweat on hot summer days, it works well as a scarf, fighting off a cold neck in the winter.”
“Although here in LA we always have really nice weather, it can sometimes get pretty darn cold at night (and in the mornings). With that said, I think everyone should own a denim jacket as it’s a great piece to layer year-round. It can be worn in any season and in really inventive ways… like under a rugged vest, for example.”
“I picked up these cargo pants on a visit to Florence and I wear them all the time. I love the color and fit.”
After a long debate about colored laces and other trends that are losing steam, Khaled proves that when you nail the entire outfit, subtle trends can add a little something, rather than be a distraction.
“These are my favorite boots because the oxblood color is so rich and works with just about everything. I like changing out the laces to many different colors…It’s a fun way to add another pop to the entire look.”
What do you think? Does it work? Are you a fan of colored laces, or no? Let us know in the comments!
